Anyone who knows me well, knows that I am scared of heights and hikes and climbing mountains isn’t something I do without a lot of complaining.
But somehow I managed to do this:
So how did I manage to climb to the top of Arthur’s seat in Edinburgh? I surprised even myself by getting to the top if I am being completely honest.
So one evening everyone in the programme, decided to climb Arthur’s seat and as much as I wanted to say no, I didn’t want to be that person who ruins the fun so I said yes. I remember being at the bottom and looking up, feeling a sense of panic at the thought of climbing that thing (which actually isn’t even that big HAHA :D).
I started the climb up and within 10 minutes I was tired because I am so UNFIT. But, thats when everyone started cheering me up. Encouraging me to go up and waiting for me as I stopped to catch my breath. In that moment, I knew I had to keep going because by stopping, I would let down a whole team.
So I kept going because of these amazing people. Pushing and still stopping because it was a real STRUGGLE! I complained A LOT (I feel sorry for the people around me). But after an hour of stopping, huffing, puffing and complaining I was on top of Arthur’s seat. And I couldn’t have been happier.
But what made it better was… Everyone cheered me and people were proud of me and in that moment I knew that I couldn’t have done it alone but with the support of the awesome people around me, I managed to do it and actually have A LOT of fun!
It was amazing because when I was on the top, I cheered for other people to make it to the top. we truly bonded as we supported each other.
In life, we can do anything if we set our minds to it but having people around you that support and encourage you, can make the journey a whole lot easier. So find those people around you and don’t let them go. Those people will make everything in life a little more fun and a little easier.
