World Mental health day is a way of raising awareness about the issues related to mental health and encouraging people to speak up and discuss what they are going through.

Mental health problems effect so many people. We could be walking past someone who is suffering and we wouldn’t even know. Mental health issues don’t have physical signs but it is important to be aware that Mental health problems exist and you CAN’T JUST GET OVER IT!

What can we do?

We can create an environment where people feel comfortable to talk about mental health. Also, we need to be nicer to people. There is a quote ‘everyone we meet is fighting their own battle’ we need to be kind because we don’t know what issues someone is dealing with.  A little smile, a kind word goes a long way.

I am genuinely a happy, smiley person. People often ask me how I am always smiling and why I smile at strangers. The simple answer is: a smile can change the day. I know it sounds super cheesy. But, there have been times when I have felt a little low and a smile has cheered me up.

Don’t underestimate the impact you have on people. Always smile. You don’t know the difference you are making on someone’s life.
